2D Animation

2D animation is a relatively inexpensive way to convey paths of motion. They allow the viewer to understand pre-impact and post-impact movement in a two dimensional environment. Most commonly the viewer sees the incident location through a bird’s eye view. 2D animations are best used to illustrate motion in multi-vehicle collisions. They are usually the most cost-effective form of forensic animation.  DELTA [v] often refers to 2D Animations as “Dynamic Drawings” because they add movement to AutoCAD drawings.

2.5D Animation

Service:

2.5D animation is a term DELTA [v] uses to describe 3D models animated in a two dimensional space.  Typically, vehicles/people are represented by 3D models that are moving on a 2D roadway or environment.  2.5D animations are often used when the roadway or environment is not a factor in the incident.  This medium is a highly effective way to utilize animation in a budget-sensitive manner.

• Cases where 3D Components Are Required
• Collisions Where Incident Environment or Roadway Is Not a Contributory Factor
• Projects with Small Budgets or Approaching Deadlines
